The Cattleya orchid is often referred to as the Queen of Orchids.

Most Cattleyas and their relatives are very hardy and easy to grow. The Cattleya genus contains over 100 species originating from the Central and South Americas.

They were named after William Cattley, an early 19th century English horticulturist and collector.

Flowers can come in a wide range of colours and sizes. Single flowers on a stem to heads of 20 – 30 blooms. Plant sizes may be from miniature to tall growth. They are suited to a wide range of growing conditions.
