The Dendrobium orchid is often referred to as the Singapore orchid (but this is only one type of this group). It is a very large genus containing over 1000 species.
Dendrobium species are found in diverse habitats throughout much of Southeast Asia, India, China, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia and Pacific Islands.
The name comes from the Greek words dendron (tree) and bios (life).
Flowers come in a wide range of colours, sizes and shapes and can be held on long sprays or in clusters up the cane. There are both miniature, tall and everything in between styles of growth. Different Dendrobium types are suited to a wide and varied range of growing conditions – from cool to intermediate and warm.
