Vandaceous orchids are synonymous with Thailand and Singapore. It is a large and varied group in the order of 100 species.
Vanda species are found in wide spread and varied habitats across East and Southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea, Western Pacific Island and a small number in Northern Australia.
The name comes from a Sanskrit word for one of the species.
Flowers come in a wide range of colours, sizes and shapes on sprays of few to very numerous blooms. There are some miniature growing varieties, though most are compact to tall monopodial style growth. Predominately requiring warmer growing conditions although there are some cooler growing varieties.
